Rosanne DeTorres is Certified by the NJ Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney. Attorneys may be designated by the Supreme Court as “certified attorneys” if they: are able to demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in a specific area of law or practice; have passed a rigorous examination; and have been recognized by their peers as having sufficient skills and reputation in the designated specialty.
A New Jersey attorney must meet the following requirements to become certified: has been a member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar for at least five years; has taken a specific number of continuing legal education courses in the three years prior to filing an application; demonstrates substantial involvement in preparation of litigated matters; demonstrates an unblemished reputation by submitting a list of attorneys and judges who will attest to the applicant’s character and ability; and passes a written examination covering various aspects of practice in the designated specialty.

Ms. DeTorres graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1985 and graduated with Honor from The University of Maryland School of Law in 1988. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1988, the New Jersey Bar in 1994 and the Pennsylvania Bar in 1997.
Ms. DeTorres concentrates her practice in family law cases, including divorce, custody, grandparent’s rights, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, and DYFS cases, and is a trained family mediator. Ms. DeTorres is also trained as a Collaborative Law attorney. She is an accomplished Appellate attorney having taken a number of cases to the New Jersey Appellate Division and New Jersey Supreme Court.
Ms. DeTorres is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the NJ State Bar Association and the Hunterdon County Bar Association
