I have 2 children that are still in school and my ex-wife and I were concerned with the financial as well as the emotional impact this event would have on the children and our lives going forward. In an effort to do the right thing (even though that is a very nebulous term related to this event) we decided to seek out a legal “mediator” rather than go the standard litigation route. Luckily, there was a local attorney Rosanne DeTorres, who handles this type of service. We met with her a few times, initially to understand what would be required of us and finally to develop a formalized mediation agreement that was satisfactory to both of us. Ms. DeTorres was very clear and direct in her discussions with us. She gave sound advice regarding what was acceptable to the courts and advised what would be problematic. She handled all of the formal paperwork preparation and filing, the court appearance with me and generally guided us through a very emotional experience with minimal angst. Finally, the professional fee charged was a fraction of what we initially anticipated. This aspect of the effort helped my ex-wife and I get through this and clearly benefited us financially, mentally and physically." Show MoreShow Less
